Corey Johnson, MA (He/Him)

Masters Practicum Trainee 

Corey Johnson is a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee at TheraQ, providing affirming, trauma-informed therapy for adolescents, adults, couples, families, LGBTQIA+ clients, and creative professionals throughout California. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Corey is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive space for clients to explore their identities and experiences. He is pursuing his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Massachusetts Global.

Corey’s approach is humanistic and experiential, guided by a systemic lens. He integrates Systems Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to help clients uncover emotions, heal attachment injuries, and build on their inherent strengths. He works with a range of concerns, including phase of life transitions, parenting, sexuality, depression, and anxiety.

Before entering the mental health field, Corey worked as an actor, writer, and educator, supporting students and creative professionals in expressing vulnerability, building confidence, and staying grounded in the present. Clients can expect him to bring warmth, curiosity, and compassion to each session, creating a collaborative space where they can explore challenges and move toward a life that reflects their values.

 

Corey offers a sliding scale starting at $20 an hour in addition to the insurances listed below.
