Some days can be filled with hardships, stress, or difficult emotions. These are the moments to be incredibly kind to ourselves and provide compassion and realistic expectations. One way to alleviate hard moments or ground our minds is by using affirmations.
Affirmations are statements that can help you shift your mindset and deal with negative thoughts and feelings. They are a self-help strategy that can help you build self-confidence and believe in your abilities. Try to refrain from using overly positive affirmations that set high expectations. Instead, here are some realistic and helpful affirmations to try repeating:
- In moments of suffering, may I be kind to myself and give myself the compassion that I need
- I am grateful for who I am.
- May I accept and embrace myself as I am.
- Everyone’s story, abilities, and limitations are different, and that’s okay.
- Suffering is a part of life; it is part of the universal human experience. I am not alone.
- I am worthy just the way I am.
- Either I find a way, or I will make one.
- I ask myself not if I should heal but how I should heal.
- I will not wait to have a good day. I will take actionable steps to make one.
- I will take today as it is.
- I move beyond my old limitations and allow myself to express myself freely and creatively.
- I am at peace with my own feelings.
- I will persist.
- There is a purpose and value to each day of my life.
- Today I take time to inhale peace and exhale fear.
- Facing and feeling my fears will empower me to move on.
- I will not let expectations distort my experience.
- I will treat my body with love and respect.
- I possess both beauty and strength.
- I have the power to change myself and strive for personal growth.
- I can forgive and understand others and their motives.
- I can make my own choices and decisions.
- I am free to choose to live as I wish and prioritize what’s important to me.
- I am flexible and open to change in every aspect of my life.
- Today, I will seek out things that are fun to do.
