Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#148345)

Rachel Mukai is a queer, cisgender Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at TheraQ, providing affirming, trauma-informed therapy for teens, adults, and couples throughout California. She specializes in working with LGBTQIA+ clients, those recovering from religious trauma, and people in non-traditional relationships, including ENM, open relationships, and throuples. She also works with families navigating parent-child and multigenerational dynamics.

Rachel holds a Master’s in Psychology from the University of La Verne and has completed training in LGBTQ+ Affirmative-CBT, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Religious Trauma and Cult Recovery. Her therapeutic style blends humanistic, feminist, and attachment-based approaches to explore how past experiences, relationships, and systems influence the present. Her goal is to help clients build a life that reflects who they truly are, without the pressure to be “fixed.”

Clients describe Rachel as calm, authentic, and easy to connect with. She brings her full self into the therapy space and encourages clients to do the same. Rachel is currently supervised by Dr. Katie Moore, PsyD (PSY# 32941). Whether you're new to therapy or returning to it, Rachel creates a warm, collaborative space where you can move at your own pace and feel truly seen.
